from PAX East 2012 from PAX East 2012

We are in high gear as PAX East 2012 kicks off and we want to give you a heads up on what we’re looking forward to checking out during the annual convention.

Technically, I suppose GDC 2012 was the start of show season, but as sort of exclusive club GDC is more about the developers than the fans and the games they want to see and play.  That’s what PAX East is all about.  The second largest gaming convention on the east coast, PAX East is shaping up to be an awesome time this year, with a little something for everyone planned.  As you read this, I’ll be dozing on a plane to Beantown, Suzie will be running the show, and Garrett will be wishing he was in Boston with Mike and I to see all these awesome games.  Let’s give you a rundown of what we’ll be seeing this weekend when it comes to MMOs, and then we’ll touch on the weekends biggest event for online gamers… The Future of Online Games Panel at 6pm on Friday in the Main Theatre.  I mean, I may be biased, but you’ll see why.  Scan down to read about that.
Battlestar Galactica Online is a browser based MMO based on the popular television show of the same name. We’ve been jetting around space in BGSO and putting it through its paces. See how it fared in our latest review.

Two years have passed since the initial Battlestar Galactica Online announcement, and Bigpoint now boasts close to 10 million registered users. This might be a good time to mention that registering to play BSGO is so easy that you can practically do it by accident with one-click Facebook connect. Does this mean that 10 million people registered accidentally? Not likely, but those that decided to take a pass on the game are probably the real winners.

Bits and PiecesBits and Pieces

In the latest Chronicles of One Telaran, MMORPG.com’s Paul Crilley discusses the recently released Ashes of History content as well as his continuing journey towards the capital city of Sanctum.

Hello there. And welcome back to The Chronicles of One Telaran, my ambling guide through the exciting world of RIFT. Lots to talk about this week. New things popping up everywhere. New discoveries made, new things to do. (For me, anyway.)

First off there was last month’s release of Ashes of History. Unfortunately, I haven’t actually reached the capital city of Sanctum yet, so I don’t think I can take part. (You can only get the Ashes of History quests from your capital city, which means I must still be at too low a level. Hopefully, if I eat my vegetables and do my exercises I’ll have progressed far enough by next week to see what’s going on. Yes, that’s right. I am still under level 15. (Level 11, to be exact.) I’m a slow leveler, you see. I like to explore, take in the scenery, stop to chat, as it were. But I have to admit, I’m now very curious to get to Sanctum and to find out about these World Events

Setting up a buildSetting up a build

It is quite easy to learn the basics of the ability system, but as you acquire more and more abilities the opportunity arises to really add some finesse to your chosen setup. The real fun starts when you begin exploring the Ability Wheel to find abilities which fit well together, and design the kind of build that you really want to play.

Let us say you like doing lots of damage from a distance, and you choose Pistols and Assault Rifles as your main weapons. As you play, you discover that quite often you face groups of enemies, and that you are vulnerable when they get close to you. You therefore decide to develop abilities which ‘hinder’ and slow down your opponents, so you can more easily move around and shot them from a distance.

You also soon realize how much more effective you can be when you use abilities which synergize with each other. So for your ranged build you scour the Ability Wheel for all abilities who contain the key word ‘hinder’. Luckily you find them all over the place.

The Freeform Progression SystemThe Freeform Progression System

The Secret World gives players the freedom to develop their characters the way they want, without the constraints of classes and levels. Players can acquire any of the game’s over five hundred unique abilities, and through them play exactly as they like.

The swarm of abilities makes up the Ability Wheel, and organizes each of them into helpful groups. These main groups are Ranged, Melee and Magic. They divide further into Assault Rifles, Pistols, Shotguns, Blades, Hammers, Fists, Elementalism, Chaos Magic and Blood Magic. All abilities in the wheel are tied to one of these nine weapon groups, and each weapon offers a wide array of different play styles and tactics.

A character can learn any, and potentially all (after playing for a very long time), of the abilities in the Secret World. This is done through playing and earning experience points from doing missions, defeating enemies, crafting and player versus player combat. The player starts near the center of the wheel and acquires more and more abilities as he progresses outwards towards the outer layer.

the exciting moment for revealing of diablo 3 wll bring too much brilliant memorization to the player who waitting it for nearly 10 years sine the diablo 3 , furthermore, To complete the journey from knockabout battle racer – developed under Blizzard’s earlier name of Silicon & Synapse – to World of Warcraft, the studio decided to largely jettison support for the consoles

For you Diablo 3 hardcore mode fans out there blizzard ave confirmed that you will have to play through normal mode first before you can “unlock” hardcore mode. This is because they believe that you should first experience what the game has to offer in terms of monsters, toughness and what to do before gambling your character on a  single death. For those of you who aren’t aware of what hardcore mode is, it is exactly the same as regular mode apart from your character is mortal, so when your character dies they stay dead and you have to start again.

“Zarhym – ”This is the way it worked in Diablo II and we like it. We want players to give the game one play through to experience the story, the flow, the boss fights, and the baseline difficulty before risking a whole character on a single death. Players interested in Hardcore mode will have plenty of time for that. But we’re happy with it being a setting you have to unlock first.”

the fundrising event supported by fans prove the fact  diablo 3 will continue exert influence to any countermeasure adopted by andriod,.if any counterproductive accident involved after the releasing of diablo 3 , any critical or feeback information from sincerely supporter will be appreciated, in additionally to it, players hailing from notreamericana ,russian, european countries, will purchase  the initial version of diablo 3 in 7 pm,greenwich mean time, the components of language are consist of english, portugal, espanol, russian, korean, and traditional chinese

blizzard has been obtained  reputation  for balance, fairness ,if not speed for development, that gives any Blizzard title a level of polish unseen beyond top-tier studios such as Valve. But why bring its games to consoles now, at the end of their lifespans? The short answer: because it can. Blizzard’s success, as well as their merger with publishing monster Activision, has left the studio incredibly buoyant financially

Diablo 3 Difficulty Levels Diablo 3 Difficulty Levels

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I hope I find you enlightened by yesterday’s mini Diablo 3 RMAH Guide (information posted in Diablo 3 RMAH Mini Guide) or at least amused by my design ‘skills’ illustrated by that guide… Remember to get your hands on that guide, just sign up on the right of this post!  It’s a fine, sunny day here in Ireland. Normally the even of the sun appearing in this isle of rain would be news worthy in itself but today there is better, more important information to digest! Information relating to Diablo 3 Difficulty Levels and Loot Quality. Bashiok posted this information within the past 24 hours in the official forums
This is may be a good a time as any to REVEAL TEH SEKRITS! that Inferno monster levels aren’t linear any longer. They get progressively more difficult. This was really a reaction to Inferno playtesting. Our original intent was to have a flat difficulty level where you could go wherever you want, farm for items, and it’d be no more or less difficult than any other area in Inferno. This caused a few inherent issues for us, though:

It just felt wrong. It didn’t feel right to be progressing through the game and have it stay pretty much the same difficulty the whole time. It felt like a letdown to get to the final boss of the game and it be no more difficult than the first.
There’s a wide variety of players out there and we wanted to make sure everybody had something to sink their teeth into. We expect that anybody with enough time and dedication will reach level 60. But the jump in difficulty to Inferno needed to be different amounts for different people. For the crazy people they need a HUGE ramp in difficulty, for a more “casual but still hardcore” audience you want an obvious but milder increase in difficulty. So for the crazy people who play non-stop they’ll hit Act I and get a challenge, but 1 month later they’ll still have something to work on (Acts II, III and IV). For the “hardcore-casual” they will reach level 60 later and not get brick walled when they reach Inferno. They can experience some “small victories” working on Act I with the dream of maybe someday reaching the later acts.

Diablo 3 RMAH Mini GuideDiablo 3 RMAH Mini Guide

I’ve been very busy these past two weeks working on a project for my subscribers. I’ve been asking folks to sign up with the promise of a free Diablo 3 RMAH mini guide and today I put the finishing touches to that guide. I’m no big shot so I had to do all the work myself (I learned – sorta – inDesign and crafted it lovingly with my own two hands) and that took a bit of time together with all the other things I have on the go at the moment.

It was a fiddly task that put my other projects, such as documenting and recording patch 15 class runs (á la Diablo 3 Witch Doctor Gameplay Video Patch 15 and Diablo 3 Wizard Gameplay Video Patch 15) but the task is now complete! I just wanted to let you guys who have already signed up know that I appreciate it. I didn’t think when I started this blog that so many would want to read what I muse. Thank you all.

If you’re wondering how to sign up yourself (and I hope you are  ) you simply input your name/nickname and email address into the box to the right of this post and then click ‘subscribe‘. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep rewarding those of you who sign up with more content! Who knows, I might even make something quite special for you all!

And if any of you lucky, already signed-up, sweet folk have feedback on the Diablo 3 RMAH Guide in it’s miniature form, then please do contact me and let me know! I know it’s free and everything but I love feedback!
