Real Madrid star Sami Khedira may never play for the club again after picking up a hamstring injury in the club’s humiliating 4-0 defeat to rivals Atletico Madrid this past weekend, reports the Express.

Despite the report claiming that he will only spend a couple of weeks out on the sidelines, it has been suggested that the La Liga giants have had enough of the German international, who has endured a nightmare campaign under Carlo Ancelotti.

STRUGGLES IN MADRID

There’s no doubt about it, after playing his part in Germany’s World Cup winning tournament in Brazil this past summer, Khedira has failed to hold down a place in his club’s starting XI, and could now head out of the Bernabeu sooner rather than later.

And, there are teams interested in his signature, with a couple of the Premier League’s biggest clubs seemingly interested in bringing him to England’s elite division.

INTEREST

In fact, the same report from the Express has suggested that the duo of Arsenal and Chelsea are admirers of him. The Gunners were linked with a move for the midfield ace in the last transfer window, but failed to bring him to the Emirates.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, previously managed Khedira in Madrid, so it remains to be seen as to whether he will step up his interest in the the tough-tackling ace anytime soon.

The Daily Star, meanwhile, have also reported on the transfer saga, revealing that Manchester United are also one of the clubs interested in the player’s services. Louis van Gaal, of course, recently landed Angel di Maria from the Bernabeu, but could now head back to Madrid in order to land Khedira.

IT COULD BE TIME

The Khedira transfer saga has seemingly been running for quite some time now, but it finally appears that he will leave the Bernabeu behind at the end of the season.

At 27, the German ace certainly still has a lot to offer, so would no doubt prove quite the coup for the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea.

In truth, though, Mourinho’s side already have a number of fine options in the middle of the park, with the likes of Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ramires and Co. all plying their trade under the Portuguese tactician.

Arsenal, on the other hand, could do with adding to their options in the middle of the park, with a number of their midfielders failing to protect the club’s back-four throughout the course of the campaign.

Khedira, then, would slot into Arsene Wenger’s midfield with ease, but it’s far from certain as to whether the Arsenal chief will make his move for the experienced Real Madrid star.

Manchester United, much like Arsenal, have struggled at times in the midfield department this term. Dutchman Daley Blind has started to prove his credentials at the Theatre of Dreams, but Khedira would no doubt improve the club’s midfield options further.
